QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON LEARNING ORGANIZATION PRACTICE TEAMS

Question: Will the practice be implemented by consultants?

Answer: There will be a coach or coaches to support you and assist you in implementing the tools of Learning Organization. However, the role of the coach/coaches is quite limited. The practice is to be implemented by you and the success is also to be achieved by you (sponsors, internal coaches and team members).

Question: How are we going to spare that much time?

Answer: Choosing your project topic is extremely important. If you choose from among the topics you currently need to work on and achieve bottom-line results, the practice will become part of your job and you won’t need to spare extra time. Thus, you will be investing in the future of your company/institution whilst achieving short-term bottom-line results.

Question: Within our organization, 6-sigma/total quality/operational excellence projects are being carried out. How will the Learning Organization project be fraternized with those?

Answer: Learning Organization, as a management philosophy, encompasses a very wide range. It develops skills such as understanding each other, being able to see the whole, learning together, improving emotional intelligence, being aware and talking about the effects of mental models, building a shared vision, speaking with data, work discipline and sharing leadership. It motivates learning and development with no limitation whatsoever as to the techniques, methods or innovations to be adopted. Once you have internalized the Learning Organization practices, you will be able to determine the optimal way to co-implement it with your other practices and create a synergy.
